Trygve Luktvasslimo | Norway | 2024
Norwegian filmmaker Trygve Luktvasslimo captures his audience with a whimsical tale in his latest feature narrative THE BITCOIN CAR. Just the title boggles the mind, but once Luktvasslimo begins to unravel the storyline of a goat farmer and her brother at odds with a gold-plated Bitcoin mining facility, one is intrigued. Luktvasslimo continues to draw in his audience categorizing his film as a one-of-a-kind musical adventure. It’s creative, humorous and oh, so different! This is true independent filmmaking at its best!
Synopsis: As fate would have it a young goat farmer, Gloria (Sunniva Birkeland Johansen) makes a selfish mistake to turn her old Toyota car into a golden eye sore—a golden Bitcoin car—from money she received from a crypto investor who started Bitcoin mining on top of the cemetery where her parents are buried. Strange things begin to occur, beginning with her own goats and unexplained disturbances within the surrounding community. The young farmer feels responsible.
Her brother, Lukas (Henrik Paus) comes home for the summer and learns of his sister’s debacle. Though annoyed, he sides with her in order to bring clarity to a chaotic situation. It’s possible that the Bitcoin mine is the culprit for the area’s strange mishaps, but no one knows for certain. The siblings seek help from the villagers and recruit two volunteers, an electrician and a priest. In order to protect the small village and its inhabitants from potential danger, the group decides one must go into the crypto mine looking for answers of their concerns.
