End Zone - a short from the Fly Films - film review
by Karen Pecota

The Grim Reaper, a.k.a. Death, enters into a game of chess with a charming robot while having a cup of coffee at a local diner. Death is of the notion that the game will quickly end by the time he is finished with his coffee until the robot shows off some pretty slick moves on the board. Death is not amused! He is determined to win at any cost which allows the robot to fight for the win using a little humor to sidetrack the seriousness of his grim opponent.

This mesmerizing short has very creative humor. To think that this idea was realized in a fly filmmaking challenge under the harshest of conditions. Kudos to filmmaker Rob Cunningham and his crew for taking a big risk with an “out there” storyline and a fifty-year-old game that still works.
