Shut Eye - a short from the Fly Films - film review
by Karen Pecota
A young man lying in a hospital bed appears unsettled as he observes an unfamiliar surrounding. He is initially confused and desperately searches his memory to recall what incident could have brought him to the estranged location. His body is weak. He calls for assistance but no one seems to come to his aid and he becomes agitated. He drifts in and out of consciousness, trying to remember who he is and what is happening to him, but the hallucinations only cause panic. Little does he know that he is suffering from a brain disease called Fatal Familial Insomnia (FFI) which could lead to dire consequences if he but shuts his eyes for one second of rest.
Directors: Joe Shapiro and Andy McCone.
