The 61st Berlin International Film Festival opened on February 10, 2011 with the international premiere of the film True Grit. The two directors Joel and Ethan Coen attended the screening at the Berlinale Palast with the film‘s stars Hailee Steinfeld, Josh Brolin and Jeff Bridges. The Berlin band “Beatsteaks” provided musical entertainment for the evening, which was hosted by well-known comedienne Anke Engelke. In the presence of Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media, Bernd Neumann, and the governing mayor of Berlin, Klaus Wowereit, festival director Dieter Kosslick and jury president Isabella Rossellini officially opened the festival.
