This year Madonna got a lot of press as a fleeting illusion somewhere at the Berlinale. Is she coming, already here, where? There was much Madonna buzz. In the end she came for a few hours to show a selected audience three minutes from a film she is making. Big deal.
Last year we all sought the invisible graffiti artist Bansky, whose film Exit Through the Gift Shop showed. (It was also nominated for an Academy Award in the documentary category). Naturally, nobody has ever seen Banksy, but we could look for him anyway, even pretend to spot him, easy enough since nobody knows what he looks like.
This could be a running gag for the next years of Berlinale: look for the invisible guest. Maybe we could spot Amelia Earhart or Elvis or the son of Kim Kong-il.
