Press: In your opinion, what will the future look like for the Sundance Film Festival?
Robert Redford: I believe that the festival will be more hybrid and similar to the creativity we present in The New Frontier Installation. In the old days, The New Frontier projects were more about our festival sponsors showing the latest equipment for making a film project possible. It felt dead to me because the art was missing from the equation. Today, we display the technology from our sponsors and the art form in a variation that could never be dead material. It is collaboration and we get to see it, experience it, and learn from it. The exhibition is the practical side of filmmaking and what we are doing with the available technology and creativity. It’s a New Frontier!
