This is a nature film and documentary dealing with a global issue. World-wide reports tell of mysterious deaths of honeybees. It’s not only the honey that is at stake but also the very important task of pollinating. More than one third of our food production depends on pollination by honeybees and therefore their life and death are linked to ours.
Filmmaker Markus Imhoof, who comes from a family of beekeepers, gives an international perspective of the crisis being experienced in different parts of the world. With the latest filmmaking technology he shows the most remarkable microscopic shots of bees as never seen before. Dazzling nature photography by Jörg Jehsel, well-structured editing, interesting and lively portraits of people in different countries make it an entertaining 90 minutes. The film premiered at the Locarno International Film Festival 2012.
