Emily, in the throes of a middle-age crisis, is re-thinking her feelings towards her husband Cal, including divorce as an option. However, his life is already a mess and he drowns his misery in a pub where, fortuitously, he meets Jacob. Jacob takes Cal on as a pupil, teaching him all the charms and treachery needed to chat up women. Cal improves his looks but his charm is far from good; he lacks motivation. Finally he scores with a lady, but only because a desperate teacher (Marisa Tomei) would take her chances on him. After that initiation, Cal, the womanizer, makes his master proud. In the meantime, his son (who is in love with his nanny) motivates him to put himself together and fight for the love of his life. Back to Jacob, who has been overcome by love in the shape of Hannah.

Deep feelings are shown in this film: the crying for a lost one, the wondering of one’s self-existential motive in life, abandonment, etc. The actors are exceedingly well cast. This is a very entertaining film which will leave you with a nice feeling, not only through good comedy moments, but also deep drama totally worth watching. (Amanda Watts)
