A young couple dealing with a miscarriage, a stubborn old man with a weak heart and a man who needs to settle everything before he moves to the U.S. are combined in this slow-paced and melancholic film. Rose (Florence Loiret-Caille) can’t seem to deal with the reality that her baby has died and throws herself into work, never guessing that Edmond (Michel Bouquet) will help her find her way back.

The film is reflective and thoughtful but very predictable. The film handles this sensitive subject with tenderness and care, but there are moments when I wanted the actress to really show her emotions long before she does. I also felt that the last scene didn’t completely make sense and felt tacked on. (Shelly Schoeneshoefer)
