An off- beat comedy that takes us back to memories of our own class reunions and wondering whatever happened to…, this comedy plays with the idea of what it means to be successful and that we all can be heroes in our work as long as we are doing what we love. Rawson Marshall Thurber takes on the typical stereotypes and gags and attempts to turn the place upside down. The story includes bananas, Molly Ringwald in Pretty in Pink, CIA agents and the selling of illegal codes. The film has its moments of laughter but at times the jokes are two juvenile to be funny, therefore will be appealing to the young adult audiences.
The twenty-year class reunion of 1996 is coming up and Calvin Joyner (Kevin Hart), who was nicknamed the Golden Jet and was supposed to be the one guy mostly likely to succeed, wants to avoid it at all costs. He sees himself as a boring accountant who hasn’t achieved anything. His wife, who was his high school sweetheart, is beautiful, successful and dying to go to the reunion; she thinks Calvin is unhappy in their marriage. Calvin suddenly gets a Facebook request from a long lost friend, Bob Stone (Dawyne Johnson) who turns out to be Robbie Weirdicht. Bullied in high school, Robbie had made a final unforgettable impression, appearing face-down and naked on the gym floor during graduation. Calvin is the only person who stepped in to help him. After a night on the town, Bob Stone becomes a part of Joyner´s life and takes him on the rollercoaster which makes him realize that he does have a great life. But the question is: will Weirdicht be able to have his payback at the reunion. If you are in the mood for a dumb comedy night with friends and popcorn, this is sure to make your night, just don`t step on the banana. (Shelly Schoeneshoefer)
