Jean, now 30 years old, left his home in Burgundy, France, a long time ago, in order to discover the world. Ten years later he has to return home, because his father is dying and his last wish is to see his oldest son before he dies. Jean leaves his own wife and son in their winery in his new home of Australia and makes the trip to Europe. For Jean a return to the family home brings both good and bad childhood memories.
After the father’s death, decisions had to be made in the traditional, successful family winery. A new start requires a strong hand. New tasks are distributed between his sister Juliette and his brother Jérémie. Sometimes neighbors robbed the grapes from the property and they had to keep an eye on them. A difficult decision must be made: sell the winery or keep it as a family business. This is not an easy decision. Jean misses his own family in Australia, as well as the warm weather. Several times he calls them. The distance makes his life difficult; his marriage is in danger. Should he stay in France with its nice winery landscape, the village traditions and the life among old friends? Unconsciously, he starts another trip, this time with his feelings.
I especially like the film for showing the life abroad, sorrows, conflicts in the family and job , and nationalities. Although this thematic became very common in our days, it is related with deep passion, beautiful views even showing the whole process with the grapes in the winery before you drink the wine. All together an interesting film! (Geysa Wiemann)
