Students at Burg Schreckenstein, a German boarding school for teenage boys, take a prank too far during their annual sports competition and unintentionally injure the school’s owner, Count Schreckenstein (Schmidt). It’s the final step to financial ruin for the count. Unbeknownst to staff, he was already in deep debt before the accident. Now he faces significant hospital bills and a very long recovery, and the school’s fate is in the balance.
The count turns to his nephew Kuno (Ochsenknecht) for help. So Kuno arrives to handle the dire situation. His quick-fix solution: sell the castle to a Chinese investor! One who wants to shut down the school and take the picturesque castle, lock stock and barrel, back to China as a European-kitsch addition to his giant amusement park. The boys of Schreckenstein, of course, team up once again with their female cohorts and rivals at neighboring all-girls boarding school Rosenfels to find an alternative and save Schreckenstein from closure.
This sequel to the 2016 film Burg Schreckenstein is based on the popular German teen fiction series written by Oliver Hassencamp decades ago. (Deborah Steinborn)
