Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) is the kind of reporter who shoots straight from the hip and will leave no stone unturned until he gets to the bottom of the story. He believes blindly in solving the injustices of the world but seems to forget that there is always a heavy price to be paid. So when Eddie’s chief editor asks Eddie to interview Carlton Drake (Riz Ahmed), head of the bio-engineering Life Foundation, he specifically asks only to talk about the rockets being launched into space as they explore for habitable planets and explains emphatically not to stray from the path. Unfortunately Eddie is also known as an egotistical guy who takes uncalculated risks and so it’s no surprised that he chooses the reckless path of trying to get the unscrupulous Drake to tell the truth. This is just a story that Eddie can’t leave alone. He knows that one of the rockets crashed in Malaysia and people died. He not only pisses off Drake but everyone around him and within 24 hours of his misshaped interview with Drake, he loses absolutely everything: job, girlfriend, Anne Weying (Michelle Williams), apartment and doesn’t really know what to do with his time. It doesn’t take long before Eddie finds out how bad things really are. Drake has brought back specimens called Symbiotes from outer space which are organisms that need a host in order for survival but it must be a perfect match or the host will die.

This science fiction odyssey takes a sudden left turn and spins off into full action revealing one of Marvel most dark characters with a very complex personality Venom. Venom is an obsequious black colossal creature with a large tongue, sharp teat, opulence eyes and the ability to do completely off-the-wall climbing as well as stretching through space. He is always hungry and has taken a liking to his new host Eddie. Unfortunately the other Symbiotes have come to take over the planet and feed on the humans. The artistic talent is seen in the computer graphics when creatures and humans fight with all their might. They leave moment of fogginess to add a bit of mystery and the black humor is a guarantee to keep the viewer rolling on the floor with laughter. I have seen this movie twice and each time I see more into this film. It is not a simple good guy/ bad guy scenario. From the music to the action scenes this film has a tempo that keeps you on the move. It is not a film to miss if you love fast-pace sci-fi films. (Shelly Schoeneshoefer)
