New corgi puppies are born, and Queen Elizabeth of England choses one named Rex to be her own private pet. Small Rex moves into Buckingham Palace, and enjoys the luxury of life among royalty. Other dogs also reside in the palace, but Rex is soon top of the heap, ignoring all rules and having a fine time, to the disapproval of Prince Phillip, and even the Queen. One day Rex goes too far and lands on the street of London among less advantaged dogs, which must fight for a hierarchy in the clan, attempting to survive each day. Rex learns what is really important in life, as well as what he really is.

Children will love the dogs in the animation, all with entertaining personalities. Adults will enjoy the subtle insinuations about life in the palace, which probably reflect the truth more than we admit. There is a wonderful cameo appearance by US president Donald Trump and his wife Melania. Everyone can identify with the moral of the story. (Becky Tan)
