Karin (Marie Richardson) is celebrating her 40th wedding anniversary with husband Sten (Björn Kjellan) when she finds proof that her husband has been cheating on her. This leads to an argument with Sten who becomes injured and lands in the hospital. In the meantime, Karin meets a former high school friend Monika and they, together with another friend, Pia, sign up for a cooking class. Three men, Grizzly, Clarence, and Tomas, are also taking the course, making it perfect—all led by teacher Henrik (Peter Stormare) who determines that “cooking is art.” Karin’s daughter Fredrika (Ida Engvoll) cares for her father Sten in the hospital, since her mother seems too busy with the friends, who have organized a “cooking club.” Karin also now spends more time with Henrik, which leads to a “relationship.” Another 40th party is on its way, this time Fredrika’s 40th birthday.

This is a fun, feel-good movie, if a bit repetitive, about relationships between couples and friends: parties provide the background. Especially fun was Fredrika’s 40th birthday which was totally “Texan” with boots, cowboy hats, line dancing, and hee-haw. This cooking course always takes place on Tuesdays, which gives us the film’s title which translates to “Always Every Tuesday”. In the end we have professional cooks who have formed a business called Dienstag Club Catering; they deliver food in a truck. The characters are constantly cooking, so that food, mostly Swedish or Asian, often eaten with chop sticks, plays the main role. You will leave the cinema totally hungry, after watching 102 minutes of delicious menus, supported by 16 songs. (Becky Tan)
