Beckett (Mo Gilligan) is a cat, who enjoys experiencing his nine lives. After his ninth life reaches an end, he appears in Cat Heaven to talk to Grace (Sophie Okonedo) who then gives him another nine lives. Unusual here is that in each life, he is no longer a cat, but a horse, a dog, a badger, a cockroach, a bird, a rat, a fish, a bee, etc. We recognize him each time due to the color of his eyes: one yellow and one blue, which reappear in each of his characters. He lives with Rose (Simone Ashley), who adopted him, after almost running over him in her van. She is a scientist, developing a liquid to help save bees. Her boyfriend Larry is allergic to cats. On the negative side is Professor Richard Craven (Bill Nighy) who is working to destroy all bees, in order to replace them with his own homemade robot bees.

About twenty minutes into the film, we see a grown-up Beckett who has grown not only bigger, but also fat. In Cat Heaven, when talking to Grace, he is called Romeo. This interesting animation by GFM Animation seems to be more like real life. I would call it “animated reality.” Much fun are two strong guys, Cameron and Kirk (both synchronized by Zyan Malik), who are hired to destroy the laboratory.  Alles für die Katz premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival.
